The Mustangs (0-1) fell in head coach Tommy Ramirez’s debut, but they made it a thriller. Nixon trailed 17-0 with six minutes remaining before a furious late rally was held off by Valley View. Manny Martinez completed 12 of 19 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Joseph Contreras and Jesus Chuey Perez scored touchdowns for the Mustangs, who held Valley View to 98 total yards and amassed 303 of their own.
